Garrison Adirondack House
This is a house I had designed after I purchased this property, which was formerly a quarry in the early nineteen hundreds. The beautiful cascading boulders at the rear of the property created the perfect setting for a rustic house. After designing the post and beam structure, I ordered beams to be cut at a friend’s sawmill in Hyde Park. The mortise and tenon joints were then cut by hand on site, and the frame erected. Since this was a spec house and I had complete artistic control, I was able to achieve a level of finish craftsmanship that is rare today. In constructing the house, the wood was either local or reclaimed. It has three fireplaces that utilized stone left on the site. The entire exterior is white cedar. This house is a handmade one-of-a-kind.
